What Is Power Bank Charger Is Awesome

If you are just going to be lying on the beach and you want to keep your phone or ipod/mp3 player working, you can have a solar charger that plugs straight into the devices. Also, if you are in a very sunny region, you can work out how much power you need, and can probably get one with a large enough panel or connecting panels to keep most of your camp going! The downside of this is that no sun equals no phone or music. So you really need to work out what you want your solar charger for. However, this method is more reliable than using one with an internal battery, so for emergency and survival in the right conditions these are probably better.

Make sure your charger is plugged correctly into an outlet. You can also check whether the outlet is functioning as expected by plugging in another charger or appliance. The troubleshooting process will only work if your charger is receiving power from this outlet.

So how do they work? These gadgets have solar panels that when put into direct sunlight will convert the energy from the sun into electrical energy stored in your battery. The larger the solar panel, the more energy you get, and you can get solar panels that connect to each other to increase the amount of energy you are producing.

The battery case for Iphone comes along with the purchase of the product and is a small and sleek device, not taking much too much space in the case in which it is going to be carried. Consequently taking it around is not a big deal. The battery case for the Iphone can be found on sale separately in the internet stores as well and that too in a number of different colors. While black and grey are the conventional colors, you can also find this being sold in colors like white, red and pink, which are quite vibrant. The apple stores are places where you can get long lasting battery cases for the Iphone. this means that when you make your purchase from the apple store itself, you can procure a battery case that will last for as long as five or six years in your home, even though the price maybe a bit high. Thus, the power bank for Iphone and the batter case for Iphone is something you can easily come across over the internet and at the apple stores for prices which are fairly decent and a quality that is quite high.

The BBC have reported that the seven major banks charge unauthorised overdraft fees of ?25 to ?38 pounds. Interest rates on the unauthorised amount can also be high. While some banks charge under 8% interest, others have interest rates that hover around the 30% level.

Once the trimming was accomplished, the fit was perfect.
Note: The end boards are not firmly secured but, after being painted, were simply tacked in position to temporarily encourage the overall box to hold its proper shape. The controller will be mounted on the left end board and the inverter will be mounted on the right end board. It will be a lot easier to do that without the boards being part of the box at the time. Equally important is the fact that I'd be asking for a rupture and a cracked skull if I were to try lifting those heavy batteries over the top edge of the box while bent over underneath the back of that semi trailer. This way, I can slide the batteries into place through the open ends, then place the end boards in position (with electronics attached) and then cinch everything down.

One important feature of Solar chargers is they;re portability. It should be easy to carry around and use in whichever environment you are in. For your own convenience, you do not want something bulky for a charger, but a light device that works for you. The charger should also be designed to suit this feature so that it can fit in anything you can carry with you, from your pocket to your bag.

Every time place the AC cord securely when traveling, and keep away from each relation with different aluminous devices, suchlike paperclips, pens and coins. Whenever origining a association of the negative and positive end points, they could accidentally causes short-circuit for the adapter.

Convenient small size. Nice back-up power for an iPhone
By HonestGuy
The Anker Astro Mini is a nice small back-up power supply to keep your power-hungry iPhone running. I ran a test with my iPhone 5 to see just how much juice you could expect.
I drained my iPhone 5 down to 10%, then used the Astro mini to recharge it to 100%. The Astro still had some charge, so I drained my iPhone 5 down to 10% again, then used the Astro mini to recharge. This time I only got back to 40% charged before the Astro was done.
The way I look at it, you can get ~1.2 full iPhone 5 charges from one Astro charge. Not bad and just what I needed to keep running thru a long day.

I recharged the Astro from my computer USB port. It took ~ 6 hours to fully recharge (charging light turned off). It might charge a little faster with a plug-in charger, but you should plan on 6 hours (or overnight) to fully recharge.
The instructions are simple and the carrying bag is fine. There are a number of adapters for included charging cord. Unfortunately, the iPhone 5 “lightning” connector is not one of them. If the lightning connector was included, it would be a 5 star.

iPhone low battery no longer a problem.
By Dave Tyzo
I’m a UPS driver working very long hours and stream music and talk radio from my iPhone to my bluetooth headset to help me make it through these super long Christmas days. The problem was that my iPhone’s battery would run very low later in the day. This is no longer a problem thanks to Anker, I just hook my phone up to the Anker battery pack and let it charge my phone back up. Every couple of days I just connect the battery pack to the USB port on my computer, let it charge back up and I’m good to go for 2 or 3 more days. I like this product so much I bought one for my son for Christmas as well!

Didn’t think I would use it
By J. Ferguson
I bought it anyway and I’ve used it twice already. There’s been two nights when I’ve forgotten to plug the charger into my Nexus 4 and I had class at 8AM the next morning. My phone was almost dead, but all I had to do was bring the Astro Mini with me. Carrying them both around while the phone is charging is easy. I put the charger in my back pocket and phone in the front pocket, while still connected. The spiraled cord is long enough to allow you to use the phone while the charger remains in the back pocket. It gives my phone a full charge in about 2 hours.

Great product yet compact
By Kristy Lee

It works nicely, very compact for carrying around with the handsome travel pouch. Have not used the other attachments adapters that came with it yet, but it worked really well with my Samsung Galaxy S3 phone.

The instruction tiny leaflet can use a little improvement on the font size in print. I had to use a magnifying glass to read it. Maybe adding a small step to mention that the indicator light is also the power switch to turn on the battery discharge would be helpful too. Overall, this is a great light weight and compact juice pack for any mobile lifestyle.

Nice Charger
By A. Lin
This is an ideal battery for smaller devices like phones, mp3s, etc.
I recently moved to a big city and running errands all day without a car means I either have to make sure the phone is fully charged in the morning or buy coffee in order to borrow electricity from a cafe. This charger is pretty much the perfect size and weight for my situation, or any for that matter. A fully charged Astro Mini will replenish an almost-completely-drained iPhone 4S to 100% the first time and a little less than 50% the second time. Though it’s always a good habit to charge your phone before bed…but on the rare occasions that you forget to or need to have battery consuming applications (like GPS or Bluetooth) running for a long duration, it’s a life saver.

I took off a star for the following reasons:

1) The instruction states that “The red LED indicator will flash continuously while charging. The red LED indicator will TURN OFF AUTOMATICALLY when the Astro Mini is fully charged.” I find it not being the case for me and it took me a couple times to realize that once mine is completely charged, my indicator will stop flashing and stay fully on instead of turning off. Not sure if mine is defective, or it is an error on the manual. However not a huge deal.

2) We were shown a retractable adapter cable with the package but I received one of those coiled ones instead. The retractable cable would be more useful for me because it is longer (and adjustable) so I can pull my phone out of my pocket without having to take the charger out as well or disconnect it. I understand that companies do not always control the type of accessories that their distributors include on their packages so I probably just happened to not get the one on top of my list. On the plus side, coil cables tend to be more durable and generally lasts longer than retractable ones. Again, no big deal.

Some reviewers brought up that there are no indicator lights to show battery levels on the charger, but we all know they just need to shell out a little more to get chargers of higher caliber. Overall great price for a superb product! Did I mention how friendly and receptive they are to their customers? I would definitely consider looking at other Anker models if I need something more powerful!

Product is good, customer service is GREAT!
By Susan As Fisher "Torturedmommy"
I bought this just before a trip I was taking because I thought I would need some extra power for my devices. It arrived, I charged it up, and packed it in my carry on luggage. At my destination I tried to use it to charge my phone, but it didn’t seem to work. I was planning on returning it. When I got home I had an email from Anker wanting to know how it was. I told them my issue to which they promptly responded (and on a weekend). Turns out it was user error. The little light the tells you when it’s charged is actually an on button. You need to push it before you charge your device. It will light up green when charging. While the button was not intuitive, the customer service was quick, polite, and fabulous. Just bought another one for my hubby since I know we will be supported.

Excellent product
By Edward Redmond
Excellent charger, recharges phone very quickly. Very simple to use. Shiped as stated arrived on time. Compact nice bag to keep tips in. Fits with everything a teenage girl can put in her purse.

So far so good
By Gwen D
Bought this to help charge my daughter’s ipod touch when we travel. Works well the times I’ve tried it. This definitely works for what I purchased it for.

Great for emergencies
By William B. Partridge

I bought this along with another, larger, battery to figure out if size/weight was more important or if power and connection options were more important. Happy to say I’ll be keeping both but for different reasons.

This is about the smallest portable battery you can get that has any substantial charge to it (I’ve seen smaller with a sub 500mAh battery). It really is about the size of a large lipstick tube so it’d fit great in a bag or purse of the like. It comes with a cable as well with an assortment of plugs to charge stuff with from iPhones to android phones and a few random ones.

The size and capacity, while impressive, appear to be a limiting factor here. It’s not as easy to tell the charge state of the device as there’s only a single LED, unlike the typical 4 or so (for % base) on other chargers I’ve seen. This also limits the charging options – you’re limited to a single device and only 1A/5V. Not a huge issue really and it’s to be known when buying the device – not something I was surprised by.

Charging over a wall outlet tends to be a little faster, but may not be depending on the outlet you’re using (if it’s just 1A/5V out, it’ll be the same from your computer – about 6 hours). All in all it’s a handy device but the limitations and inability to know exactly how charged it is, along with missing features I’ve come to enjoy on the larger unit I bought (integrated wall outlet and integrated USB cable) leave it a little short. I’ve given it to my girlfriend to keep in her purse for use when her battery is dying. She seems rather happy with it and it works well.

Pros:
++ Tiny!
++ Lightweight
++ Enough battery to charge most phones
+ includes charging cable

Cons:
– Poor charge level indication
- Limited to single 1A/5V

In short you trade some features for size/weight. If all you need is a portable backup battery this will do the job amazingly well. If you need more features look elsewhere. The only thing I can really knock it for is the lack of a better charge level indicator.

Never knew how much I needed it.
By Techguy

My wife got this as a gift (pink one). I thought it was good for her to keep in her purse, but assumed it wasn’t for me since I couldn’t imagine stuffing it in my pocket every time I left the house. I was wrong.

The real utility of this for me is the “Running out the door, oh s*** my phone/Nexus is almost dead lemme grab this thing”

Half star off because the octopus cable and the tips are a bit much. If you are going to have all of this, they might as well add an additional cable for a second tip to charge 2 devices at once. I am Android only person, however, so I do what another reviewer does and just use a thin 6″ mini usb cable when I take it. Another partial star off because the directions are way to confusing/over written. Just plug the thing in, charge it up, it will do the rest. The indicator lights are intuitive.

I also like that it seems to hold its own charge for a long time without being used.

Summary: I had to buy one for myself because pink doesn’t work for me.

Real Customer Reviews:

By Vahan Galachyan
Pretty good battery pack:

+ Very well built
+ Battery charge/capacity indicators are very nice looking
+ I've been impressed by how on/off works: Plug-in device you'd like to charge, push the button to charge. Unplug the device to    stop charging, the battery pack will power off on its own. Easy, nothing extra to worry about.
+ Overall design is neat - doesn't diminish the iPhone's look when it's next to it
+The shiny plastic doesn't scratch too easy - I've been throwing it in my bag and it still looks fine
+ Doubling the battery as an LED flashlight is a bonus - double-press the button to turn it on, double-press to turn it off.
+ Comes with a bunch of little cable connector tips. This could be a good thing if you don't already have cables but I use my own 22cm short iPhone cable from CableJive and another supershort microUSB cable by Nokia.
+ I use any random microUSB charger to charge the battery since I always have those around - not sure if that's recommended but been working fine for me.

I've used the battery pack to charge my iPhone, T-Mobile Hotspot, Kindle, friends Android phones, and good to know that I can also charge my iPad if needed. Charges the iPhone pretty quick, I can carry both in the pocket since I have the short cable.

Would definitely buy this product again over any other battery pack out there but would also consider the 2900mAh version of it. At the time I was buying, this product had the most capacity in the smallest size - awesome!!

By Matt Pelletier

I bought this to serve as a backup battery for my phone during long trips. The charger itself works well; it charges my phone up completely twice over just as fast as an AC adapter. The flashlight is an added bonus. At one point the charger locked up though, and it wasn't until I tried using it again hours later that I got any sort of response from it. Seems to have just been a glitch of some kind.

One big downfall: it comes with a short cable, one side is USB and the other is fitted for all of the charger plugs (micro-USB, iPhone, etc). After not even a week of use the micro-USB head became pretty loose, and at this point it will not stay connected to my phone unless it is physically held in place at just the right angle. Luckily being a nerd I have plenty of USB cable lying around, so I can still use the charger. However the shortest one is still three feet long so it's anything but convenient. Since I bought it with 'fulfillment by Amazon' my only option is to return the whole thing for a refund, so I'm just going to deal with using a longer cable.

Short version: The charger itself is good, but purchase from someone with a better replacement policy, or be prepared to use your own USB cable(s).

The Details...

This battery comes in a comfortable packaging with good instructions and a few extras (They gave me a bookmark... A bookmark? Really?). A zip bag contains the various adapter attachments: Apple 30-Pin, USB Mini, USB Micro, and a standard 5V Barrel connector. The other end of all of these adapter attachments is a smaller-than-normal barrel connector that plugs into the female barrel connector at the end of the spring cable. The other end of the spring cable is a standard USB A male connector, same as you would plug into a computer. There is also a mesh-bag carrying case.
Sadly, I have to touch on two raze items right here:

The construction of the USB spring cable and the adapters is nothing less than shoddy. I had to quickly convert to using a normal cable that came with the phone and tablet over the included spring cable. The USB A side of the power cord has trouble maintaining connection with the battery and the adapters have trouble maintaining connection with the device. While this nice compact cable would be a great boon to many, the poor quality makes it next to useless, with constant wiggling of the connections often needed for it to continue to operate.

There is also a mesh, draw-string carry pouch. This carry pouch is just barely too small for the battery pack to fit in and allow it to close and there is no way to easily store the connectors and previously-mentioned faulty spring-charging cable. Then I thought, "Maybe it's just meant to hold the adapters and cable!"... But then it's hugely overkill and the battery pack itself is not included in the carrying. The carry pouch really ends up being more of a hindrance than a convenience.
While both of these items are really secondary and overall not worth a star off. Anker may want to consider a better design and quality for the adapters and the bag, for example a carry bag that can securely hold the battery itself with a Velcro flap instead of a drawstring and a secondary pouch for the connectors. As for the connector cable, besides substantially-better construction needed, they might have better luck with adapters that go from Micro-USB to the other formats. That would allow the use of Micro-USB with no special adaptation and fewer adapters needed for the other forms.

What I would honestly love to see is some way to have things plugged into this without the cable sticking out so far. Phone and Battery, back to back with a low-profile connection to each would be truly-portable charging.

Battery for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and a late night snack..
Nobody can deny that the digital world of today is a power-hungry place. Charging stations have cropped up all over and it's not uncommon to see folks' phones plugged into the local wall sockets at coffee shops or bars or hotels. Phones and tablets are faster, brighter, and more powerful, but they eat batteries like mad. Even with an extended life battery clipped to the back or stuck inside, most people will find themselves running low at some point. That's where an external charger battery comes into play

Let's start with some numbers and quick facts:
USB specification carries 5V (five volts). Officially, it carries 500mA (milliamps), or 0.5A. Running something at 500mA for one hour will consume 500mAh (milliamp-hours) of energy. Amps are a unit of DRAW - or "pull" - not "push". If a battery has 1,000 mAh of capacity, it can have a 500mA draw for two hours. With 10,000mAh of capacity, it can support the same draw for 20 hours. The mA or Amp rating of a power supply (3A in the case of this external battery) is how much load (pull... remember?) it can take without overloading. It will not "push" that much through and kill things, however it can have problems if the load placed on it exceeds its capacity. So basically, a battery can provide energy for hours equal to its capacity in mAh divided by the average draw in mA.

Batteries are just a chemical reaction that makes electricity. More chemicals means more energy can be stored. But more chemicals also means a bigger battery and a heavier battery. Plus it's important to consider that the Lithium-Polymer battery stores electricity at 3.7 volts, so there also has to be circuitry to change that up to 5V for the USB connector. More power takes more space and more weight. As a good example, the battery in an HTC One is 2,400mAh, or a bit under 1/4th the capacity of this. Thus, this device will have a battery that is about four times the size and weight of the battery inside the HTC One. That also means this can recharge an HTC One about four times.

Got all that?

Just make it work FASTER!
Both Apple and Android device makers (as well as others) realized that it takes a Long Time to charge a battery with only 500mA of input. So they made their devices capable of drawing more power, often 1.5A or more. They needed a way to know whether they were plugged in to a normal USB port that could only deal with 0.5A though, so they wouldn't overload the port. So both developed circuit signalling that would allow a high-amp charger to identify itself so the device would use the higher current and charge faster. Both of these signalling methods are enabled on this external battery, which is a boon to quick-charging devices.

Pocket-Sized Power - For big pockets
This is important to consider. This is bigger than a large smart phone. take the HTC One again as an example:
5.4 x 2.7 x 0.4 inches <- HTC One
5.6 x 2.8 x 0.6 inches <- Anker 10,000 External Battery

This battery is a bit bigger than the entire cell phone in all directions. Now, in my case, I wear cargo pants due to everything I need to carry for work. Not only do I have normal side pockets big enough to completely hold a 7" tablet, but I also have cargo pockets. Having effectively "another phone" in size and about two or three phones in weight is no big issue for me. If you have a very small handbag or wear tight pants with tiny pockets, this may not really be "pocket sized" for you. At the same time, this is the most-compact power supply I have found so far, with the amount of power it holds being very good for its size. It's easy to find others that are just as big or even bigger yet hold substantially-less juice. It's also easy to find others of the same price or more expensive that can't hold as much juice either. So in both Power/Size and Power/Cost, this is a winner.

Features that matter
The Charge Level Indicator LEDs will tell you how it's doing both when charging this battery as well as when using this battery to charge other things. The simple push-button operation makes it easy to turn on and it will turn itself off when the current draw is under 80mA. Nothing connected? It turns itself off. So you can check its battery level with a push and see if you need to recharge it before heading out. Many phones also draw less than this when they are fully charged and asleep, so again, auto-off.
However it's important to note that 80mA minimum. Some things like Bluetooth headsets and other devices draw very little current when charging. Try to plug in a tiny little on-the-ear headset and charge it and you might be in for a surprise as it doesn't draw enough power to keep the battery pack on.

Feed Me!
Another thing to consider is that the battery itself draws 1.5 amps when charging. Remember: It doesn't come with a power supply unit. Plug it in to your average computer USB at 500mA or a charger that can't provide enough juice and suddenly... Doom. There is a chance for overloading the supplying source, which can cause it to heat up substantially. Voltage can drop on the supply, causing the external battery pack to not charge at all. And in the even that the battery pack recognizes that it can't get enough current, remember how long we discussed it would take to charge the 10,000mAh battery at 500mA? Yup. 20 hours. More, actually, since there is conversion loss in the charging circuits.

Oh, hey, look! There are reviews that talk about charging it for four hours and not getting past one LED lit and the wall charger heating up. So there are precisely the symptoms of charging on a normal computer USB or with something like a 1A wall charger.

Hopefully this will help you..

Tips On Buying A Power Bank

It depends on your requirement.  If you don’t carry too many devices when you travel, then you can buy a small and low capacity one just to charge your smart phone.  If you need to charge a IPad, computer, etc., then you will need a one that has high capacity.

1. Capacity - Determine Your Usage:

The main attribute associated to a power bank is its capacity.  This capacity is measured in milli Ampere Hour i.e. mAH. You can’t exactly calculate how many times a specific powerbank can charge your device, but the rule of thumb is more mAH rating mean more capacity.
So if you have a phone with a 1500mAH battery, ideally a capacity of 1500mAH can fully charge it once.  And when you buy a portable power bank, make sure that it can charge the battery of a specific device i.e. its output voltage matches with the device you own, because if the output voltage of the charger is less than the device being charged, it won’t work.
And of course if you have a charge with a larger output voltage than your device, you may be able get several charges.
Should you decide on buying a portable chargerkeep your own usage in mind.  To meet huge charging needs of consumers, 8400mAh and 11200mAh  units are also available.  There are chargers that can charge almost any type of device, from all types of companies. This includes laptops, ipad, ipod, tablets, and mobile phones from Apple, Samsung and HTC.
Sample Usage Guide…
  • 1500mAh battery : mobile phone – 1 full charge.
  • 5200mAh battery : mobile phone – 2 full charges. Ipad – approximately 40%.
  • 10000mAh battery : mobile phone – 4 full charges. Ipad – 100% full charge.
Power banks are available in almost all the countries at various prices and in varying sizes and specs.  Before purchasing you should make sure that they are not used.  Used chargers will be a waste of money as their life span is not much.  Life span can also be greatly reduced if it is kept in adverse environmental conditions for a long time.
There are portable chargers whose lifetime is reduced at temperatures more than 45 Celsius. However, at extreme temperatures such as over 70 Celsius there is a good probability that the battery will be completely damaged.

2. USB Charging:

Some powerbanks contain a built in USB charging capability.  Some of the older models don’t have this feature.  They had a separate cable which one had to carry along with the device. This added to the number of things that could go wrong in its usage.  People were not able to charge their cell phones if they lost or forgot the cable at their home.  Once the device is charged the cable can be easily folded into the powerbank.  To charge the device all one has to do is to unfold the adapter and plug into the required slot.
The better quality power banks will come with a set of connectors for different device types, such as, Sony Ericsson , Apple, Nokia, Samsung, etc.

3. Price & Quality:

Apart from battery strength one other thing which can help you make a rational decision is the price.  But you should not buy a portable power bank which either uses refurbished batteries or which doesn’t contain the basic features e.g. short circuit, over charging protection and temperature protection.

4. Portability:

Several reasons of buying a power bank is that it is portable and will charge your device.  You can buy cheap ones with big capacity, but they usually will not charge your gadgets properly, or break down on you.
If you are looking to buy a portable power bank, we really recommend not going for the cheapest option. Thid is one of times where you do indeed get what you pay for. A mid-range to upper range price will be a great option with no sacrifice on quality.
Because of the large number of personal devices that we now have such as iPhones, iPads, Ardroids, smart phones, some cameras, GPS, MP4, IPods and Bluetooth to name a few, it’s practically a necessity to have one if you want to make sure that you never run out of battery on your device.
There is nothing more frustrating than running out of battery.  Before I had a Power Bank, I was on a long drive, using Google Maps with my Android.  My car charger stopped working, so my mobile battery died halfway through the 4 hour journey and I had to find my way without back home relying on stopping and asking for directions several times.

5. Power Bank Recommendations To Best Charge Your Devices

After extensive research, we have found several excellent sources for a rechargeable battery pack and give it our highest recommendations.

5200mAh Charger

If you just need to charge your mobile phone, the PowerGen Mobile 5200mAh  is an excellent choice.  You can get up to 2 charges for iphone.  The price is $29.99.
According to the package insert, this battery pack has capacity to charge the following:
* iPhone 4: 2 charges
* iPad 2: 45% of one charge
* iPad 3: 27% of one charge
“The PowerGen 5200 works as expected for a 5200 mAh battery. I can charge my Kindle 3G from critically low to full charge twice with enough juice left to give it one more partial charge. I charged my new iPhone 4S from 5% to full charge once and I still have about 75% charge left in my battery pack. “
